A Year of Community, Connection, and Sacred Spaces: 2024 in Review
What an extraordinary year it has been – one filled with both challenges and meaningful achievements. Thanks to your incredible support, we’ve been able to make a real difference in our community and beyond.
This year, I successfully organized fundraising initiatives for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People (MMIW2S), as well as raised awareness and support for those affected by the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The new monthly teen and adult archery meetups have not only brought our community together but also provided vital support to Batoul and her growing family, and now Asmaa, as well. It's truly remarkable what a small business can accomplish when backed by a caring community.
I'm grateful to have continued some cherished traditions, including the annual archery extravaganza with Kathy Escobar in Colorado. This year was especially meaningful as I fulfilled a long-held dream of facilitating the Intensive Journaling retreat there. The journey continued to Los Angeles, where I had the joy of visiting my son Zion and collaborating with my friend Myriam to lead a Meditative Archery Workshop in Long Beach. I'm excited to share that these experiences have paved the way for upcoming workshops in LA this February and San Diego in the near future.
In response to recent political events, I hosted a three-day free archery gathering called #shoottheshit, which brought both new and familiar faces together. These connections reinforce my commitment to building stronger, supportive, and safely vulnerable communities.
This spring brought an extraordinary gift: the opportunity to walk a portion of the Portuguese Camino into Spain, culminating at Santiago de Compostela. The experience was so transformative that I’m considering organizing another pilgrimage – I'd love to hear if you're interested in joining.
Another dream materialized as I began creating sacred spaces centered around the Wheel of the Year. The inaugural Winter Solstice gathering at Hoyt Arboretum, attended by seven adults and two children, was a beautiful celebration of nature and ritual. I'm thrilled to announce our next gathering for Imbolc on February 1, 2025, as we continue this journey of connecting with nature, ritual, and ourselves.
As I reflect on this remarkable year, I'm filled with gratitude for each of you who has been part of this journey. Whether you've attended a workshop, supported my fundraising efforts, or simply shared in the community's growth, you've helped create something truly special. Looking ahead to 2025, I'm excited to continue growing, learning, and building meaningful connections with all of you.
With heartfelt thanks and anticipation for what's to come,
Angie (You are worth knowing, You are worth Loving, You are worth being in this world)
P.S. Don't forget to mark your calendars for our Imbolc gathering and upcoming LA workshops. I'd love to see you there!
